The days are warm and summer has arrived, here’s today at a glance:

✈️ What I would do with 75,000 UR points
🌬️ Turbulence: Tips to make it more tolerable
🌎 Southwest makes the news for all the right reasons
🙋🏽 Go here if you want to avoid the crowds this summer

Let’s dive in.

✈︎ Flight Deal

Denver to Madrid

(flight data and prices were gathered from delta.com)

📉This Delta flight is $481 cheaper than normal. It can cost up to $1,250 on average for this time of year. The points value is no bueno, so I would recommend booking this flight in cash rather than in points. Round trip to Europe for under $500 is a great deal! Who doesn’t like tapas and sangria while dancing flamenco? 💃🏾

✈︎ In-flight Entertainment

Not sure where to travel this summer? Don’t worry, google already knows. This travel destination map tells you depending on your state where you’re most likely to visit this summer based on popularity of your neighbors.

✈︎ Points + Miles

What I would do with 75,000 UR points

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely heard about the amazing elevated welcome offer on this card and this card. In cash, this offer is valued at over $1,500 in travel, but can often far exceed this amount depending on how you book. This offer will likely be saying goodbye soon 👋. If you’re on the fence about getting a travel card, these guys are your golden tickets.

Here are 3 scenarios I’d pick to use my Chase UR points

1) Utilize the incredible FlyingBlue loyalty program to book a business class flight —>50,000 points from any one-way destination from the US to Europe. Add on their latest promo: free stop over on any award ticket and you could spend between 24hrs up to 1 year in connecting cities, visiting a new destination completely free 🤯.

2) Dreams Sapphire Resort + Spa: This family friendly, all inclusive in Mexico comes in as low as 17K points/night. Featuring a beautiful beach front location and tons of amenities, a 4 night stay for $0 is nothing to take lightly.

3) For my domestic friends: Denver —> Portland, Or : Southwest flights as low as 5,000 pt one way in September is a steal. Just 20k points round trip for 2 leaves enough points to book the Hyatt Centric Downtown for 6 FREE nights! This hotel offers nights starting at 9k points/night.

✈︎ Travel News

Turbulence: tips to make it more tolerable

Extreme Turbulence: Last week’s travel news was hard to read. Even as an avid traveler, I’d still say I’m a nervous flyer. And while we know flying is overwhelmingly safe, moderate to extreme turbulence can be quite frightening and in the case of the recent report of a flight from London to Singapore, even fatal. 🛫 Here are a few tips to keep in mind when it comes to turbulence:

  • The bigger the plane, the better. Choose a larger aircraft when flying, especially overseas. In general, the bigger the plane- like an A380- the less you feel.

  • Sit in the middle of the aircraft, over the wings is generally smoother, avoid the back. Always wear your seatbelt.

  • Extreme turbulence is most frequent over the equator, mountain ranges and over jet streams such as Japan, even the US to London routes.

  • Sit at the window, in case over head bins do open, you will avoid getting hit.

Southwest makes the news for all the right reasons

Google Flights: It’s my choice of social media. And great news- As of recent, Southwest has decided to start participating in Google Flight searches 👏🏼 That’s great news because Southwest is projected to fly some 57 million passengers by September 2nd of this year 🤯 Thanks SW for making our life that much easier when scouring for flight deals.

✈︎ The Informed Traveler

Go here to avoid the crowds this summer

Avoid the crowds! Summer time travel is bittersweet. The kids are off school and you’re in full vacation mode BUT- so is everyone else in the world and crowds can tank a trip real fast. Here’s a list of the least crowded National Parks in the US to make your summer excursions filled with activities that don’t include waiting in line or elbowing your way through a massive crowd.

Crowded Air Space Out There

Flight data: The average number of commercial flights per day is 97,439. That is incredible. According to the OAG flight counter, we’re looking at 14,323,610 flights total in 2025 by the end of this week! That’s 10 million more flights than tickets sold for the Switfy Eras tour —> take that Taylor.

What to do if you miss a connection

📘 Read : So your flight arrives late to it’s destination and now you’re on a mad dash to make your connection, all the while swearing under your breath that you didn’t allow more time for the layover. Hint: always leave at least an hour for a layover. Check out what to do if the gate closes before you make it?

No TSA pre-check? No problem

👮‍♂️No TSA pre-check? How about a free pass through security? As of June 2023, Clear Reserve has been available for travelers to book a timed entry through security at 18 airports across the U.S., Canada and Europe (with more airports to come).

✈︎ Trivia

Up until the 1950s, windows on airplanes used to be square. So why are airplane windows rounded now?

Answer: Rounded corners are designed to help evenly distribute the pressure exerted on the window, reducing the likelihood of a window cracking under changing air pressure.
