✈︎ Flight Deal

Business class to Asia, it’ll change your life

📉 Flying business class to Asia is a bucket list experience. I’ve done it and it will forever be one of the best travel memories I have. While it can eat up a lot of points, if you’re in the game for the long run, it’s an incredible way to find high value in your points and experience something you otherwise would likely not go for. We often travel as a family and business class isn’t usually in the cards for us, but it could be for you!

This flight costs $8.60 in taxes and fees and while $22,000 as a cash price is completely ridiculous, using miles is how so many can enjoy this elite status.

Savvy Investors Know Where to Get Their News—Do You?

Here’s the truth: there is no magic formula when it comes to building wealth.

Much of the mainstream financial media is designed to drive traffic, not good decision-making. Whether it’s disingenuous headlines or relentless scare tactics used to generate clicks, modern business news was not built to serve individual investors.

Luckily, we have The Daily Upside. Created by Wall Street insiders and bankers, this fresh, insightful newsletter delivers valuable insights that go beyond the headlines.

✈︎ Points + Miles

TOP STORY: How to Turn Credit Card Points into a Holiday Adventure

(5 minute read)

Do you know what’s better than a holiday gift?

A holiday trip!

At least that’s my love language. But how do you actually use points to make an epic adventure?

Here’s the secret: Transferable Points.

Transferable credit card points are rewards you earn on certain travel credit cards, that can be moved out of the travel portal to travel partners such as airlines and hotels. These are NOT co branded cards such as your hotel or airline loyalty cards.

Rather, these are cards like this, this, or this.

So, leave those slippers you’re thinking of gifting to your partner at the store, and instead surprise someone you love with what is likely, the best git they’ll ever recieve.

First step→ Know your points. Get to know your points by understanding who they transfer to. The easiest way to do this is to log into your bank app and take a look for yourself 👀 Here, I’ve made you a chart→

Second step→ Know how to book

You have 2 choices when booking using points + miles-

1) Inside the bank travel portal

or

2) Outside of the bank travel portal.

Let me show you: This is an actual flight I’m looking at booking for later in the year.

I speak to countless people who are frustrated and/or overwhelmed with using points + miles because it can cost so many points when you use them in the travel portal within the bank app.

I repeat: The secret to points + miles is in the transfer partners.

Because you read Booked It On Points 😉 , you now know that Capital One transfers to KLM airline (see handy dandy chart above) and this card is a no brainer to take advantage of.

So, what do I do? Well I DO NOT search within the travel portal. Instead, I go to KLM.com and search using miles.

It is INSANE that the SAME flight is 86,325 miles cheaper just by booking another way.

The same goes for hotels. Check out this hotel book for a trip to NYC next weekend:

I could go on and on about transferring points + miles out of the travel portal. I hope this gives you a quick jist of what it actually looks like.

Don’t be scared to figure it out or make a mistake with this stuff. Even if you’re not finding the ABSOLUTE best deal of the century, it’s still worth it! Because the goal is travel, and that’s what you’re here for.

✈︎ Travel News

Delta, you’re onto something good…

Before you start salivating, know this deal only hits if you’re flying in first class. It may be the boost you need to splurge and book your points for Delta One after all. Shake Shack marries Delta, aren’t they a lovely pair.

Oh actually, Delta, wait, …

Delta Airlines is changing how it does business. They want to focus more on customers who pay higher prices instead of giving free upgrades. They're doing this with an attempt to “unbundle” more flight services so you will have to pay for the service you want. Much like a Spirit flight deal.

Worried about getting credit card approval?

This new feature by Chase allows you to check if you’ll be approved with no impact on your credit, taking the worry and guess work out of it.
